Trainer Steph Goes to Harbor Country Pride!

I am so excited to be joining my longtime friend, Hillary, at her Bed & Breakfast in Union Pier for Harbor Country Pride's Self Care Saturday on June 5 from 12-2. I will be leading the class through a variety of bodyweight exercises, with detailed instructions and demonstrations. My hope is that people of all sizes, ages, backgrounds, love interests, and athletic ability or lack thereof, will join. You don't have to be anywhere, you just have to be there. It's common for us to plan for the day we are going to get healthy, to say "once I'm where I want to be, then I'll start going to the gym." This is just an example. And good news, you don't have to do anything at the gym if you don't want to. The point is that we have to start here and we have to start now. Back when I was thinking of what to call my business, I considered, Here and Now Health & Wellness. It has a nice ring to it, but more truth than that. If we want to change, we have to make changes. You've heard that before, along with some other trendy, motivational, inspo talk. I'm fond of a good quote. Just ask my clients, especially my youth clients. The other thing to consider is doing what you are able on that day, in that moment. For instance, if I'm a 35 year-old person who was once a great athlete but has been sedentary for many years, I shouldn't start out trying to run or by doing burpees. There are appropriate exercises and there are not. If you want to get the most out of your workout, build slowly and safely. Far too often, I see people want to go hard and get it done while the iron is hot, but then end up overtraining and/or injuring themselves. There's nothing more discouraging to a motivated person to make a change, than an unforeseen injury. This is why it's important to work with a Personal Trainer. If not for life, for the time you deem fit to learn how to train effectively and safely. But this is not a plug, not for that. Come join this free workout at Garden Grove Inn with me, a week from today. I will show you prerequisites and modifications for more advanced exercises if you like, but the focus will be on movement and understanding. Don't wait for the right time. Start now. Do it today. Maybe you leave cheese off of your sandwich, or you opt for salad for lunch. You can even just try leaving creamer out of your coffee. Go for a walk. Reach for the sky. Literally, stretch. It doesn't have to be a big thing, but it has to be something. Namaste.
